For my personal brand Identity I drew inspiration from traditional native Hawaiian tapa patterns and created a pattern identity. Each of the different elements have a unique meaning and style. The flexibility of each of the pattern elements allows for a wide range of uses going back to the meaning of my last name “Kanoa” being , “the free one.”
The way I interpreted the meaning of my last name is that my identity should be flexible in its usage and visual appeal. It should be readable separately but also together. But most importantly for this logo to be successful there has to be enough variations in the use of the motifs to distinguish each letter that creates my name.
