Alternate Book Form

For this design we were given Walter Benjamin’s The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and asked to explore different book forms. We explored different types of books such as accordion folds, accordion spine, french folds, and various other shapes and folds.

For my book form I kept it relatively traditional accordion cover book and played with these longer vertical pages. Along with the unorthodox size of the book I also played with the idea of inserts to kind of make this book an informational book for Hawai’i and how we are losing the Native Hawaiian culture in these areas of industrialization.
