What if Hawai‘i was not apart of the United States? What if we were left to grow and improve upon the Native Hawaiian culture on our own? These are questions we had to ask ourselves when working on this project. The Alternate currency project gave us the chance to work with different forms of layering and other techniques in Photoshop that we had not been exposed to before. In my design I created a currency for a reality where Hawai‘i payed homage to their origin and the ancient techniques of navigation.
